Book Description
Haylie thought her biggest problems were school stress and teenage drama. But after a fateful accident, she wakes up in Fautunia—a world where humanoid animals have built a complex society and humans live as an oppressed minority. She finds protection and a father figure she never had in Dakar, a kind-hearted hamster farmer. She lives in peaceful idyll for nine months – until the brutal government becomes aware of her.
For Haylie is more than just a lost girl: she is the chosen vessel of Kafra, a being with elemental power. When this power awakens, a battle begins that will change not only Fautunia, but also Haylie's own identity forever.
A story about unconditional love, the courage to fight, and the question:
Who am I really?

Action
THE HUNT - Heart-pounding adventure in the mountains - Haylie & the group on the run...
On a boulder, no more than thirty feet ahead, crouched a creature.
It was no larger than a full-grown dog. Black fur. Stocky body.
Powerful hind legs, ready to spring. Long, curved claws jutted from its paws. Its short snout twisted into a threatening snarl. Sharp spines protruded from the tip of its tail, shimmering in the violet morning light.
Yellow predator eyes fixed on the group with deadly intensity.
"SKAPPARA!" Fraan screamed in horror. "RUN!"
The creature let out a piercing howl — a signal.
Instantly, two more Skappara burst from the rocks to their right, their powerful hind legs catapulting them in massive bounds across the cliffs.
"TO THE MOUNTAINS!" Lokan roared.
They ran. Haylie stumbled over sharp stones, her feet slipping on loose gravel. Joshua gasped beside her, yanking her through a narrow crevice. Behind them —the rhythmic clicking of claws on stone.
The Skappara were closing in.
"AHEAD!" Ruffana cried out, pointing forward in panic.
Two more black shapes leaped toward them, blocking their path. Five Skappara. A coordinated hunt.
"LEFT! LEFT!" Fraan screamed.
They changed direction, scrambling over jagged rocks, leaping over deep cracks in the stone. The Skappara followed effortlessly, their claws finding purchase even on smooth rock.
The panting, rasping breath grew closer.
"They're catching up!" Joshua gasped in panic.
Haylie's lungs burned. Every breath felt like fire. Her legs grew heavier, slower. Beside her, Joshua wheezed, stumbling over stones.
Emotion
THE FAREWELL - A love that knows no boundaries - Haylie & Dakar - A moment for eternity
Haylie collapsed. Dakar caught her as she fell into his arms.
"I heard," she sobbed, her voice trembling.
"You can't stay here! You're my best friend! You're everything I have in this whole world!"
Dakar held her tightly against him, his voice breaking completely.
"You're like a daughter to me, Haylie. My precious little daughter. I will always be with you, even when we're apart. Forever and ever."
"NO! NO! NO!" she screamed hysterically.
"I don't want this! I want you to really be with me! I need you! Without you, I'm completely alone!"
Tears streamed down Dakar's face like waterfalls.
"I know, my sweet little girl. I want to be with you too. My heart is breaking!"
"I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, PAPA DAKAR! DON'T FORGET ME! PLEASE DON'T FORGET ME!" she cried with her last bit of strength.
"Never, my little daughter! I will never forget you! You are everything to me!" Dakar called back, his voice completely shattered.
As her screams faded and she lost consciousness, Dakar sank to his knees and wept as if his soul was being torn apart.
Humor
DAKAR VS. MODERN SLANG - A lesson in misunderstandings - Haylie explains to Dakar what "Bro" means...
Dakar sprang back up, this time with an expression that was almost comical. He still held his pipe in his paw and took a quick drag.
Instead of blowing out the smoke, he let it slowly escape through his nostrils. Then he suddenly opened his mouth and the remaining smoke poured out in a thick cloud. He looked like an irritated dragon.
"This is incredible! You speak so fluently. You're the first Guant I've ever met who can actually speak—at least with me."
"Wow, it's totally mind-blowing that you're hearing aGuant speak for the first time," Haylie interrupted sarcastically, "but let me tell you my story now, dude."
Dakar furrowed his brow. "Excuse me, 'story'? And what does 'dude' mean in this context? Have you Guants become so... informal?"
"Okay, listen up, old timer. 'Story' just means 'tale' or 'narrative,' got it? And 'dude' is like... a buddy. A friend. A bro. You with me?"
Dakar nodded slowly, but his expression betrayed complete confusion.
"'Bro'? Is that short for... bread? Do you have a special relationship with baked goods? And 'old timer'? What an odd term! Does that mean I'm... an antique machine? But I feel quite spry, actually."
He flexed his arm and examined his modest bicep. Then he looked at her expectantly and perked up his ears.
"No, Dakar! 'Bro' has nothing to do with bread! It's just... oh, forget it! And 'old timer' is just another word for 'old.' Like you. Man, you're dense! Just listen, okay? Otherwise I'm going to lose it."
She grinned mischievously. Dakar chuckled.
"Fascinating! Your language is truly... colorful! I must say, your Guant-speak has a certain charm to it! But very well, I don't want to hold you up any longer. Tell me your story! I'm all ears!"
